In our seventh grade math class, we recently did a project in order to see which candy company wasted the most paper with their wrappers. The choices were as follows: Starburst, Tootsie Roll, Pearson’s Mint Patties, Hershey Kiss, Milkmaid Caramel, and your product at Ce De Candies, Smarties. We went through a series of calculations to find the candy that wasted the most of one of Earth’s most precious materials — trees. The result was that Smarties wasted the most.
Although the area of your wrapper was 79.52 centimeters-squared, the surface area of all the candy in the wrapper was 20.41 centimeters-squared. That means that your product wastes 59.11 centimeters-squared of your wrappers, which means 74.33% of your wrapper is not being used. To put it bluntly, it is wasted.
We are very disappointed that your company, Mr. Edward Dee, would be foolish enough to kill hundreds of trees each year. Candy is something that is meant to be enjoyed, not kill the planet we live on! I know I speak on behalf of my fellow students at Lumen Christi Catholic School when I say your company, Ce De Candies, has failed to impress us greatly.
